About Project

“Hygge Home” is a quilt I created for my mother- and father-in-law’s 35th wedding anniversary. It was pieced from the Country Home quilt kit by Sherri & Chelsi. My mother-in-law, Linda, has fallen in love with the Danish concept of “hygge,” or the practice of creating a warm, comfortable home environment and focusing on contentment. I can’t think of a better way to practice hygge than to curl up with a good book, a cup of coffee, and a handmade quilt. The swirling, custom quilting adds movement and whimsical charm to the sweet house blocks and sweet, encouraging sayings. It’s a treat that I get to “visit” this quilt whenever we are in town, because it was so hard to give away once it was complete!
