About Project

This is such an incredibly special quilt! Truly a team effort, it was pieced by Carol from New York after she inherited the blocks from a friend, who completed all the needle-turned applique. This Baltimore Album style quilt has 30 blocks that are meticulously hand-sewn, embellished with ribbon embroidery, beads, rhinestones, tassels, and more. It was an honor to quilt, and together, I think we have created a true heirloom and showstopper. Carol’s quilt is large, maxing out my 10-foot frame at 93.5″ wide. It took over 60 hours to quilt due to the precision required to stitch around each applique and complete the ruler quilting. The flourishes between the blocks, filled with freehand feathers, were quilted using a French curve ruler, and the 3/4″ crosshatching in the background of each block was quilted using straight rulers.
